Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we work with a company that uses a "green" custodial strategy?

Hallmarked by the use of naturally and environmentally-friendly cleaning materials and techniques, a “green” custodial strategy aims to keep your facility preserved in the lowest impact, least chemically contaminating way possible.

Learn more about our "green" approach.

How do we know that your services are legitimately in compliance with industry best practices?

Customized believes buildings should be cleaned in a cost-effective manner that provides the healthiest work environment possible. This is difficult when greenwashing is the industry standard, thereby eroding trust between service provider and customer. By partnering with a recognized third party agency — Green Seal — who assures compliance with industry best, sustainable practices, Customized is proud to hold Silicon Valley’s first Green Seal certification of its Customized Cleaning for Health Program.

How do we know for sure that our contractor is really practicing green cleaning?

Certification through a third party such as the Green Seal organization removes all doubt.  Ongoing audits of procedures and practices by the organization ensure that the contractor is living up to the promise.

Is green cleaning more expensive?

Not necessarily. Customized successfully competes with other companies who are not practicing green cleaning. While we don’t win every bid, and, some we lose to a lower bidder, we are rarely the highest bidder.

What benefit is there to green cleaning?

Our Green Seal certified program is Customized Cleaning for Health Program. We have long believed as a corporate philosophy that Green cleaning is the right thing to do. Now, we are seeing studies which record fewer sick days for employees of Green buildings, improved morale and other indications that better health for people results.

In addition, our industry has a history of poor behavior in regards to the chemicals we have used and the “throw-away” mentality we have had towards supplies and tools. Green cleaning interrupts this pattern with longer lasting, sustainable tools, and, chemicals with reduced or no toxicity.
